Cape Fear Christian Academy had a 4-3 lead after two innings on Monday before visiting Fayetteville Christian scored 17 runs in the top of third on the way to a 23-4 Sandhills Athletic Conference varsity baseball win.

The Warriors notched their first win in six games and improved to 1-4 in the league.

Zeke Brock started on the mound for CFCA and pitched two innings. He yielded three unearned runs on four errors with one hit, three walks and six strikeouts.

With games scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the Eagles sought to save Brock for later in the week and changed pitchers. Four errors and five walks contributed to the big inning for the Warriors.

CFCA scored three runs in the first with Jaden Crumley walking and scoring on a double by Brock. Reid Miller singled to left to bring in Brock. Walks to David Clearman, River Ennis and Wyatt Medlin forced in a run for 3-2 lead for the Eagles.

Crumley doubled to left center and scored on Wesley Jackson’s single for a 4-3 CFCA lead in the second.

Jackson and Miller each went 2-for-3. Crumley was 1-for-2 with a walk. Brock was 1-for-3. Clearman drew a pair of walks.

The Eagles were without catcher Trevor McLamb due to illness.

CFCA is 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the SAC with a conference game at home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against Trinity Christian.

Jaden Crumley heads home with the first run for CFCA on Monday.
