CFCA middle school boys close season with win

Cape Fear Christian Academy took a 42-10 Southeastern Conference middle school boys basketball win over visiting Sandhills Classical Christian of Southern Pines on Thursday.

Wyatt Medlin had 16 points and Patrick Raynor had 11 points to lead the Eagles in their final game of the season.

Tony Cornette-McGuire had eight points. Elijah Ellis, Landon Alphin and Mason Gregory had two points apiece. Conner Parrish had one point.

J.R. Lewis had six points. Michael Howell and Nathan Popoca had two points apiece for the Lions.

Prior to the game, Cape Fear Christian honored five eighth-grade girls: Perri Caroline Ennis, Madeline Brocious, Ella John Dupree, Aubree Bass and Laney Trainer as well as three eighth-grade boys: Cornette-McGuire, Medlin and Raynor.

The Eagles opened the game with eight unanswered points and never looked back, outscoring the Lions 12-2 in the first quarter, 8-0 in the second, 11-0 in the third and 11-8 in the fourth.
