CFCA volleyball advances in Monday matches

Cape Fear Christian Academy hosted volleyball tournament matches on Monday in the Southeastern Middle School Athletic Conference as well as the Sandhills Athletic Conference, winning both.

The CFCA middle school team improved to 21-0 as it defeated St. John Paul II of Southern Pines in the league semifinals by set scores of 25-10 and 25-15. CFCA will host Liberty Christian of Fayetteville for the middle school tournament championship on Monday (Oct. 14) at 4 p.m.

The CFCA varsity took on Trinity Christian of Fayetteville and turned back the Crusaders, 3-0 (25-9, 25-7 and 25-9).

Reyna Johnson lead the Eagles in kills with nine and had five aces. Kristen Bass had six kills and Talisha McNeill had five. Anslee McLamb led CFCA in aces with 10.

The Eagles’ conference tournament run ended Tuesday with a 5-set loss at Fayetteville Christian.

The CFCA varsity (10-9) will learn its status for the NCISAA 1-A tournament on Sunday.
