Cape Fear Christian Academy started its 2018 volleyball season with a 2-0 junior varsity victory over Lee Christian on Tuesday in the CFCA gym.

It was the first contest for Calvin Gaines as a scholastic head coach and the Eagles made the occasion special as they prevailed by scores of 25-23 and 25-21.

CFCA essentially sent its jayvee against Lee in the varsity contest as the Falcons prevailed, 3-0.

Junior Kristen Bass was the only addition for CFCA from the junior varsity game.

Playing in both contests for the Eagles were Bella Alphin, Leah Brannon, Natalie Brocious, Marlee Butler, Reyna Johnson, Anslee McLamb and Claire Parker.

The CFCA varsity visits Community Christian of Wilson on Thursday at 6 p.m. That nonconference matchup will be at Peace Church at 2838 Tilghman Road North in Wilson.
