CU women win at Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Behind a 10-point fourth-quarter performance from Lauren Carter and 11 total points from Hayley Barber, the Campbell women’s basketball team came back to defeat Charleston Southern, 60-58, on Thursday night inside the Buc Dome.

With the win, Campbell picked up its 10th victory of the year (10-4 overall), while moving to 2-1 in Big South Conference play. The Buccaneers fell to 3-11 and 0-3 in the league.

Carter shot 6-of-9 from the floor, finishing in double-figures (12) for the fifth time this season. Barber’s double-digit performance is her first since March 4, 2017, when she scored 13 her freshman season at Liberty. She went to the free-throw line 11 times, sinking nine.

Taya Bolden led CU in rebounding for the fifth consecutive game, pulling down 12 boards. She also added five points. Both Ashlyn Hampton and Kyra Davis finished with nine points and four rebounds. Shy Tuelle scored eight, knocking down 2-of-4 from three.
