BUIES CREEK — Alexa Genas scored for the third time in as many games and Rosie O’Neal added another goal as Campbell defeated former Big South Conference foe Coastal Carolina 2-0 on Sunday night at the Eakes Athletics Complex.

Genas opened the scoring line in the fifth minute by stealing a short-played goal kick and eluding the keeper for the score.

In the latter half, O’Neal netted the final goal on a header from the far post after Delaney Baumbick fed Jessica Donald on the near side outside the box who then lofted the cross to O’Neal for her first goal of the season.

“It was a very physical match and I thought our girls responded well,” said Campbell coach Samar Azem. “To be under that much pressure I thought we responded really well and that is something that we are going to build on.”

Sophomore Reaghan Duval recorded her first career win and shutout by recording five saves over 90 minutes of play for Campbell (1-1-1).

Coastal Carolina (0-4) starter Rylee Attebery suffered the loss while tallying six saves.
