Cape Fear Christian Academy’s middle school boys soccer coach Michael Breslin was by himself on the bench Thursday afternoon as the Eagles hosted Freedom Christian and depth eventually proved a telling factor in a 4-0 loss.

The Southeastern Conference matchup was scoreless for the first half.

“We got heavy legs at the end,” Breslin said. “But they played well as a unit and with a lot of heart.

“I was very proud of them. This was by far the best game we have played.”

It was the second and final home game for the Eagles, the way the league schedule shook out this season.
