The Dunn AA baseball All-Stars finished second in the Dixie district tournament completed Monday evening at the Nathan Harris Athletic Complex at Tyler Park.

The AA division is for players 8-and-under with a coach pitching to his own team.

Hope Mills National won the final on Carlie C’s IGA Field, 10-0. Hope Mills National did not allow a run in four games in the tournament. Hope Hills American was awarded the Sportsmanship trophy. The final game was delayed about an hour due to rain.

Dixie district chairman Jay Hardison credited the efforts of Dominique Smith, athletic director of the host Dunn Recreation Department, and staff with getting the field ready.

Dunn and Hope Mills National earned berths in the state tournament at Lockwood Folly in Brunswick County. Opening ceremonies for that event are scheduled for Friday, June 28, with play starting the following day.
