The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity girls soccer team continued to show progress Friday in a 5-2 Sandhills Conference loss at Northwood Temple Academy.

After going the full 80 minutes Thursday for the first time in a 5-0 home loss to Freedom Christian on Thursday, the youthful Eagles got their first goals of the season on Friday.

Ella John Dupree tallied for CFCA on Lexi Crumley’s assist to tie the score at 1 in the first half. Northwood Temple led 3-1 at halftime, the hosts getting their initial goal on a penalty kick.

Crumley found the net off a feed by Ruby George for CFCA in the second half.

“So proud of these kids,” said CFCA coach Michael Breslin. “They’ve continued to improve by leaps and bounds. Looking forward to seeing them grow.”

CFCA visits Freedom on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. start at Arnette Park in Fayetteville.
