Freedom tops CFCA

Freedom Christian topped host Cape Fear Christian Academy, 54-51, on Monday night in the Sandhills 2-A/1-A Conference varsity boys basketball tournament.

Isaiah Tatum had 22 points for CFCA (10-19). Dillon Butler had 10 points for the Eagles.

The teams split regular-season meetings with Freedom winning 42-41 at home on Jan. 12. The Eagles took s 68-48 win on their floor on Jan. 30.

CFCA coach Dwight Miller is hopeful of a seed anywhere from No. 8 to No. 12 when the field for the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association 1-A Tournament is announced Sunday evening. A total of 16 teams will receive berths.
