Triton’s varsity basketball teams took wins over Fuquay-Varina at separate sites on Tuesday night.
The Hawks boys got 26 points and seven rebounds from Derreon Burnett. Emari White had 15 points and five assists as Triton evened its record at 2-2.
Kalil Hodges had six points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Travion Sanders had six points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Hawks, who hosted the Bengals.
Rounding out the scoring totals for the Hawks were Colby Parker (4), Tre’sean McLeod (3), Josiah Lett (2) and Shaiheim Strickland (1).
“We had a slow start defensively,” said Triton coach T.J. Morrison, whose club trailed 18-16 after eight minutes. “Much better, maybe our best overall quarter in the third.”
The Hawks outscored Fuquay 22-12 in the third period.
“Derreon was big for us,” Morrison said. “The guys did a good job finding him and putting him in position to score.”
The Triton girls ventured to Fuquay for a 46-29 victory, their second straight win after an 0-3 start.
The Hawks host Midway on Friday.
