Klein leads Hawks in girls golf

One day after clinching the Tri-County Six 3-A Conference girls golf championship, Triton hosted players from Harnett Central Midway, Clinton and Wayne Christian for the Eastern Carolina Invitational at Chicora Country Club on Tuesday.

Triton’s Lana Klein was the medalist for the nine-hole tournament, posting a score of 42.

Also for the Hawks, Mackenzie Reid shot 47, Neva Chance shot 48 and Tristan Ennis shot 51.

Triton had a 137 in the team scoring for first place. Midway was second at 176 and Clinton finished third with a 179 total.

For Harnett Central, Molly Surles shot a 49 and Ellie Smith shot a 52.

For Midway, Kaylah Jackson shot a 53, Miranda Holmes shot a 58 and Isabella Faircloth shot a 65.

Triton and Harnett Central will end the regular season in a conference match hosted by Southern Lee at Sanford Municipal Golf Course on Monday.

Midway ends the regular season in an East Central 2-A Conference match hosted by Rosewood at Goldsboro Muncipal Golf Course on Oct. 16.
