The Harnett Central girls and Southern Lee boys, the leaders in the Tri-County Six 3-A Conference varsity basketball standings, will be in action tonight (Feb. 2) at Central.
The Central girls are 16-2 on the season and 6-0 in the league with a 13-game winning streak.
The Cavalier boys are 16-3 and 5-1.
The last loss for the Lady Trojans was Nov. 30, 51-43, at home to East Wake. Central’s girls beat tonight’s foe, Southern Lee, 57-22, on the Cavaliers’ floor in their first meeting on Jan. 10.
Senior Maliah Banks leads the Central girls. She is averaging 16.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.7 steals.
Senior Michaela Cabe is averaging 9.9 points.
Three players are averaging 6.0 rebounds or better for coach Chelsey Cabe’s club — junior Marcayla Jones, junior Lyndsey Brewer and freshman Syniah Miller.
The Central boys are coming off a 77-68 home win over Western Harnett. Adonye Fubara hit nine of 10 field goal attempts as he scored 22 points to lead the scoring for the Trojans. Jalaan Signal had 16 points for Central. Adam Jackson contributed 14 points and five steals.
Chase Mullins had 10 points and seven rebounds before picking up his fifth foul. Kaizer Ray also claimed seven rebounds.
The Trojans were 29 of 49 from the floor , an outstanding 59 percent.
