Midway girls unbeaten, again

The Midway girls basketball team pushed its string of unbeaten seasons to five with a 23-20 win over host Roseboro-Salemburg in the county tournament championship on Wednesday.

The Lady Raiders were led by Rylie Williams with eight points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Jaycie Byrd had five points and five steals. Kris’Shyia McKoy finished with four points and three rebounds.

Alyssa Hargrove had two points and eight rebounds. Deniah Holder contributed two points, six rebounds and three steals. Anaya West added two points.

The Midway girls, coached by Selena Joseph, finished the season 13-0.

The Clinton-based Sampson Middle boys won their seventh straight county title with a 36-19 victory over Midway at Roseboro-Salemburg.
