Western Harnett Middle School rallied to score six runs in the bottom of the fourth and added two more in the fifth to take an 8–7 baseball win over Coats–Erwin on the Cardinals’ home field Monday afternoon.

Coats-Erwin is 7-3 on the season. Western finishes with a record of 7-5.

Falcon pitchers allowed only three earned runs but crucial fielding errors at critical times allowed the Cardinals to escape with the 1-run win.

Wyatt Avery paced the Falcons offensively with three hits. Jalen Evans and Gavin Klein added two hits each. Also hitting safely for Coats-Erwin were Tucker Reagan, Hunter Thompson, and Zachary Roberson.

Jamari Thompson pitched three innings of strong relief, allowing one earned run and striking out five.

The Falcons host Harnett Central on Thursday.
