Western Harnett recently had a signing ceremony at the school for Shamaree Brown. She will be joining the cheerleading squad at Campbell. A spokesperson said the Western community is excited about Brown’s future plans. Family, friends, coaches and school officials were on hand for the ceremony on Tuesday, July 7.
Western’s Taft Cummings signs to run at Mars Hill
Taft Cummings of Western Harnett has signed to run track at Mars Hill. Cummings had an abbreviated senior season for the Eagles due to the cancellation of competition because of the coronavirus. Cummings turned in a time of four minutes, 58 seconds in the 1,600 meter at Triton on March 12.

Western Harnett junior Will Lewis won the 132-pound division in the NCHSAA 3-A wrestling tournament at Greensboro Coliseum on Feb. 20-21.
