Western Harnett’s varsity girls basketball team was defeated 70-17 in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs by host Jacksonville, the No. 1 seed in the East, on Tuesday night.

The Lady Eagles finished the season with a 7-17 record.

Areon Laurent led the Lady Cardinals (19-3) with 21 points.
