CFCA advances with first-round win

Cape Fear Christian Academy hosted United Faith on Tuesday in the first round of the NCISAA 1-A volleyball tournament. The Eagles advanced with a 3-0 win. Set scores were 25-14, 25-5 and 25-4.

Abby Hobbs had 12 aces as the Eagles improved to 15-9. Rhyleigh Horne had six aces.

Hobbs and Claire Parker each had eight kills.

“Great passing from Rhyleigh, Sara (Shaw) and Marlee (Butler) allowed us to keep control,” saud CFCA coach Paul Hobbs.

The Eagles host North Hills Christian of Salisbury (10-5) in the second round on Thursday at 6 p.m.
