Deshawn Woods scored 40 points as Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team downed Pungo Christian, 75-31, in its closing game in the Crusader Christmas Classic at Grace Christian School in Sanford on Wednesday.
Woods made 14 of 17 field goal attempts, including seven of eight beyond the arc. He hit all five of his free throws.
Jakson Cullen added 12 points, hitting six of 10 from the floor for the Eagles (5-6).
CFCA made 29 of 55 from the field (53 percent) in ending a 3-game losing streak.
Sophomore point guard Zeke Brock played for the first time since a Nov. 18 ankle injury, providing nine points, 10 assists and two steals.
“Zeke gives us a lot with his scoring and playmaking,” said Eagles coach Dwain Ellis.
David Okropioridze came back after being sidelined Tuesday with a knee strain and had seven points. Brandon Surles had four points and Reid Miller added three.
Woods also led CFCA in rebounding with seven, Miller grabbed six and Surles got five. Trevor McLamb and Cullen claimed four boards each.
The Raiders slipped to 5-8 with the loss.
CFCA, ranked No. 9 among NCISAA 1-A teams — one spot above Pungo, returns to action at home for the Cape Fear Christian Holiday Invitational on December 29 at 7 p.m. against Chatham Christian Homeschool.
