SJ boys defeat Southern Wayne

Jaydn McNeill scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half for South Johnston in a 55-42 Quad Counties 3-A Conference win over visiting Southern Wayne on Friday night.

Chase Norris had eight of his 10 points in the first 16 minutes as the Trojans improved to 3-8 overall and 2-1 in league play going into a conference contest at Hunt on Tuesday night.

South led 32-16 at halftime.

Lucas Layman had eight points for South, Connor Lee tallied seven, Brayden Barefoot and Ricardo Perez netted six points each, and Nick Jackson added four.

Southern Wayne (2-9, 0-4) was led by 13 points from Donshae Boseman and 12 from Christopher Carmon.

There was no girls game. South won the junior varsity boys game, 49-35.
