Zeke Brock made a difference for the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team on Monday night in a 71-64 Sandhills Athletic Conference road win over Trinity Christian.

Brock missed a 66-60 loss at home to the Crusaders on Friday night due to COVID protocols, but he was back with 24 points at the Fuller Recreation Center in Fayetteville in the rematch. The sophomore point guard also had five rebounds and four assists.

Brock is fifth nationally and first in North Carolina in assists per game with 9.6, according to MaxPreps.

DeShawn Woods had 23 points as the Eagles improved to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in league play going into a make-up game with Fayetteville Christian at home tonight (Tuesday, February 8) at 6:30 p.m.

David Okropiridze narrowly missed a triple-double with 16 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists and three steals for CFCA.

“David probably had the best game of his life,” said Eagles coach Dwain Ellis. “Zeke made some big threes. DeShawn was sensational, as usual.

“Jakson got hurt with a knee to the outside of his calf and he sat out, but he should be back tonight. Reid (Miller) got in some foul trouble, but Trevor (McLamb) came in and did what he could.”

McLamb and Miller added four points each. McLamb had seven rebounds. Cullen contributed a pair of rebounds and three assists. Barrett Raynor had two rebounds and an assist.

The Eagles led 21-11 after eight minutes and were on top, 33-30, at the half. Trinity was down, 50-41, going into the fourth quarter.

“We made some mistakes late in the game, but we were able to close it out,” Ellis said.
