Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity softball team bounced back from a 2-1 Sandhills Athletic Conference loss at Freedom Christian on Friday with an 11-1 nonconference victory at Grace Christian of Sanford on Monday.
The outcome helped Eagle teams to a 4-0 record on Monday as three middle school teams also posted wins. CFCA topped Grace, 10-5, in middle school softball to remain unbeaten in the opening game at Legion Field in Sanford.
The CFCA middle school girls soccer team took a 4-0 win at Berean Baptist before a 25-0 win by the Eagles at Berean in middle school baseball.
Varsity softball
CFCA pounded out 16 hits to improve to 8-3 overall going into a game at Lawrence Academy on Friday.
Eighth-grader Kristina Kennedy and Methodist signee Kim Bordeaux, a senior, each went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for the Eagles.
Cailee Ray, Mariah Bell, Rhyleigh Horne, Megan Harrold and Claire Parker had two hits each. Ray had a triple and Bell had three stolen bases.
CFCA scored five runs in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 10-1.
Parker pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and one unearned run in the fourth with two walks and five strikeouts.
Middle school girls soccer
Gwynn Young scored three goals and Courtney Butts tallied one for CFCA’s middle school girls soccer team on Monday.
Harper Shook finished with two assists and Butts had one assist.
Hannah Taylor was in goal for the shutout and made three saves.
Middle school baseball
Fisher Stancil pitched a no-hitter and Mason Gregory had an inside-the-park grand slam as the CFCA middle school baseball team improved to 3-0.
Stancil and Cason Pope each hit triples. Palmer Ennis had a double,
Stancil went 3-for-3 with three runs. Conner Parrish and Alan Hinson each scored four runs.
London Hinson had two hits and three RBIs.
Eli Burns had a hit and scored two runs. Thomas Honeycutt and Tyson Stephens each drew a walk and scored. Landon McLamb had two runs and an RBI.
