Triton’s varsity boys soccer team improved to 12-6-1 overall and 8-4 in the All American Conference with a 2-0 victory over visiting Pine Forest on Wednesday night.
Omar Hernandez scored on a penalty kick in the 12th minute to put the Hawks ahead to stay.
Triton scored in the second half when a shot by John West was deflected by a Trojan defender for an own goal.
“We played a really good game of team soccer tonight against a much-improved Pine Forest squad,” said Hawks coach Brian Foster. “We shared the ball well and kept possession just like we want to. We could’ve finished a little more cleanly in the offensive third, but we created the chances and eventually, hopefully, they’ll start going in.”
Triton travels to Overhills on Monday and has Senior Night against Harnett Central on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
