BUIES CREEK — Preseason Big South Conference men’s basketball favorite Longwood jumped to a 23-3 lead and never trailed Saturday in a 67-42 win over Campbell at Gore Arena.

Isaiah Wilkins, Walyn Napper and Michael Christmas led the Lancers (10-5, 2-0) with 11 points each. Longwood made 41 percent from the floor (22-54), hit nine of 25 (.360) threes and forced 21 turnovers while extending its win streak to five games.

Jay Pal, Anthony Dell’Orso and Mason Grant led Campbell (5-9, 0-2) with seven points apiece. CU’s top three scorers — Ricky Clemons, Joshua Lusane and Dell’Orso — finished a combined 3-of-22 from the floor.

The defending league champion Lancers took an 18-point edge (38-20) into the dressing room.

Campbell dropped its fourth straight contest after shooting 27.7 percent (13-47) on the day, four of 23 from 3-point territory.

The Camels return to action Wednesday when they host Gardner-Webb in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
