Sawyer Elkins of Lee Christian scored 57 points in Tuesday night’s 108-73 Mid-Carolina 1-A Conference varsity boys basketball loss at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Tuesday night.
Zeke Brock had 41 points for the Eagles (6-11), who snapped an 8-game losing streak against higher classification opponents while improving to 3-0 in league play.
CFCA swept five games from the Falcons.
Varsity Boys
Elkins’ performance included 27 points in the second quarter.
“We could have done a better job on him, but some of our best defenders got in foul trouble,” said Eagles coach Dwain Ellis.
Brandon Surles had 19 points for CFCA. Trevor McLamb and Kayden Dunkins scored 11 each. Cole Godwin had 10 points.
Elijah Ellis had six points. Seung Sermons had four points. Justin Chestnut scored three and Wyatt Medlin added one.
Varsity Girls
Glenna McLamb had 21 points for the Lady Eagles in a 56-14 win.
Perri Caroline Ennis tallied 14 points and Ella John Dupree netted nine.
CFCA got four points from Laney Trainer, three each from Niah Torres and Meredith Taylor, and two from Savannah Autry.

“We worked on our press and press break on Monday,” said Coach Ellis. “We grew some offensively, moving the ball around and getting it inside.”
The CFCA girls improved to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in the league.
JV Boys
CFCA took a 72-16 win to improve to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the MCC.
Caden Scarborough had 14 points, six assists and three steals for the Eagles. Conner Parrish had 12 rebounds and four steals.
Brandon Brooks scored 12 points and had three steals. Chestnut contributed six points and 10 rebounds. Eli Burns and Seung Sermins tallied seven points each. Ethan Beasley, Kayden Dunkins and Lathan Wilborn had six points apiece.
Jayden Wright and Braxton Watt scored two points each. Elijah Ellis had three steals and two assists.
Middle School Boys
CFCA moved to 9-0 with a 59-5 win as Brandon Brooks led a balanced effort with 10 points and three steals.
Chris Crume had eight points. Cade Godwin had seven points with five steals. Fisher Stancil had five points, four rebounds and three assists.
Eli Shwaikeh scored four points with five assists and five steals. Ethan Beasley had four points and two assists.
The scoring column included Tyson Stephens (5), London Hinson (4), Parker McLamb (4), Cole Andrews (4), Greyson Avent (2) and Luke Meyer (2).
Middle School Girls
CFCA is 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the MCC after a 36-9 win.
Bailey Avery had 12 points and Christianna Wynns scored eight.
The scoring included Finley Phillips (6), Aubrey Horne (5), Peyton Dunn (4) and Lily Kate Dupree (1).
