Brock scores 48 in 90-61 Homecoming victory

Zeke Brock scored 48 points to lead the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys to a 90-61 Mid-Carolina 1-A Conference basketball win over Cresset Christian of Durham at the Eagles’ Homecoming on Friday night.

CFCA improved to 9-12 with its third straight win.

Brock, a junior guard, is averaging 35.7 points per game. He made 18 of 35 field goal attempts and 11 of 13 free throws. He had seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.

CFCA pulled away to move to 4-1 in league play after leading 16-14 going into the second quarter.

Brandon Surles had 11 points for CFCA. Cole Godwin added nine points and six rebounds. Trevor McLamb had seven points and six rebounds. Gavin Harris tallied four points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Wyatt Medlin and Justin Chestnut netted three points each. Seung Yi Surmons and Kayden Dunkins had two points apiece. Jackson Bolton had one point.

Bolton and Medlin each had four rebounds.

Varsity Girls

Jada Bryant had 52 points as Cresset rallied for a 71-62 win after trailing 23-11 after eight minutes.

Ella John Dupree led CFCA (6-11, 3-2) with 21 points. Glenna McLamb had nine points and Perri Caroline Ennis added eight.

Laney Trainer scored seven for the Lady Eagles. Kristina Kennedy and Madeline Brocious had five points each. Niah Torres had three points. Courtney Butts and Meredith Taylor had two points apiece.

Trainer had 13 rebounds and McLamb pulled down 11. Savannah Autry, Brocious and Dupree each had seven rebounds. Taylor totaled five rebounds and five assists.

Middle School Boys

CFCA upped its record to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the MCC with a 53-40 win as Fisher Stancil had 10 points and six steals.

Palmer Ennis had eight points and five rebounds. Eli Shwaikeh had seven points and two assists. London Hinson had six points and nine rebounds. Brandon Brooks scored six.

Ethan Beasley and Chris Crume tallied four each. Tyson Stephens had three points. Greyson Avent and Luke Meyer added two points apiece. Cole Andres scored one.

Middle School Girls

Bailey Avery had 11 points as the Eagles improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the MCC.

Christianna Wynns scored six points. Lily Kate Dupree and Aubrey Horne had five points each. Peyton Dunn netted four points, Lily Stanley scored three and Sailor Phillips had one point.
