BUIES CREEK — Jordan Edwards scored 15 points and dished out eight assists to lead High Point to a 57-49 Big South Conference women’s basketball win over Campbell on Wednesday night at Gore Arena.
Claire Wyatt (13), Shakira Baskerville (11) and Nakyah Terrell (10) chipped in double-digit scoring efforts for the Panthers (9-10, 7-2 Big South) who extended their win streak to five games.
Brittany Staves led Campbell (11-9, 6-3) with 13 points, seven boards and four assists while Audrey Fuller added nine points.
High Point held a 34-20 edge in points in the paint and a narrow 32-30 advantage on the boards.
The Panthers led 14-10 after the opening quarter before Campbell opened the second quarter with a 11-4 run to take a 21-18 lead.
Consecutive threes by Staves, Erika Joseph and Fuller cut the Panthers lead to 45-41 midway through the fourth quarter, but the Panthers responded with a 9-1 run to stretch their lead back to double digits. Campbell extended the game with fouls and cut the deficit to as few as six with 13 seconds remaining.
High Point shot 44.9 percent (22-49) from the field but had its No. 14 ranked three-point offense limited to 22.2 percent (4-18). Campbell shot 36.0 percent (18-50) and made six of 16 threes.
Campbell opens a two-game road trip Saturday at UNC Asheville.
