CFCA softball downs Fayetteville Christian, 13-1

A 10-run third inning helped host Cape Fear Christian Academy to a 13-1 nonconference varsity softball win over Fayetteville Christian on Tuesday.

The Warriors scored in the top of the first but the Lady Eagles (3-1) answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Glenna McLamb stood out with her arm and her bat. In the circle, she allowed one hit, an unearned run and three walks while striking out 10. At the plate, she was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs.

Kristina Kennedy was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, three runs and an RBI.

New Eagles addition Hailey Wangelin, who has been cleared medically after an illness, had a hit, a run and two RBIs.

Megan Harrold, Caylee Braswell, Hailey Dupree, Finley Phillips and Avery Lassiter each had a hit and drove in a run.

Finley Phillips pitched an inning for the Eagles with two strikeouts.

CFCA won, 9-5, at Fayetteville Christian in the season opener on February 20.

The Eagles play at Freedom on Thursday at 6 p.m.
