Good week for CFCA golfers

The middle school and varsity boys golf teams at Cape Fear Christian Academy had a good week.

Both teams won matches as the varsity finished first in Mid-Carolina Conference play at Quail Ridge in Sanford on Monday and the middle school won the Harnett County competition at Chicora on Tuesday.

Quail Ridge

Colin McLeod was medalist with a 35. Also scoring for the Eagles were Cade Godwin (44) and Will Betts (46). Connor Shirley (47) and Micah Andemichael (51) had their best scores of the season.

Chicora

Jon Russell Wise was medalist for the Eagles with a 40 on the front side. Ben Thompson (44), Ezra Smith (46) and Robert Tart (53) contributed to CFCA’s 183 total. Harnett Central was second at 213.

Kerr Lake

The Eagle varsity stood at 10-3-1 after a pair of 9-hole matches at Kerr Lake Club on Tuesday.

McLeod’s 36 was good for medalist honors on the first nine as CFCA tied for first with host Crossroads. Cade Godwin shot 42 and T.R. Dailey scored with a 43.

Seconf match scores included Godwin with a 37, McLeod (39) and Betts (49).
