Eagles down Lee in softball with no-hitter, big day at plate by Wangelin

Cape Fear Christian Academy overwhelmed visiting Lee Christian, 24-0, in varsity softball on Tuesday.

The game was halted in the third inning on the mercy rule.

Glenna McLamb pitched two innings ofa no-hitter and Finley Phillips tossed the last frame.

Hailey Wangelin was 3-for-4 with a double, triple, four runs and four RBIs as the Eagles (5-4) had 12 hits.”

Larah Tripp had two doubles and four RBIs. Hailey Dupree had a hit and three RBIs. Kristina Kennedy and McLamb each had two hits and two RBIs. Kennedy had two doubles. Twins Finley and Sailor Phillips each had a hit and two RBIs.

Megan Harrold had three runs and an RBI as she drew a pair of walks and was hit by a pitch. She had three of the Eagles’ 10 steals.

Avery Lassiter had an RBI and scored three runs. Caylee Braswell scored two runs.

The Eagles visit Lee on Tuesday.
