Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity girls soccer team split a pair of Mid-Carolina Conference contests at home for the week with a 5-1 Senior Day triumph over Lee Christian on Tuesday before falling, 4-1, on Friday to Cresset, the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps rankings for NCISAA 1-A sides.
CFCA, No. 4 in the most recent rankings, got its first two goals from Bailey Dorman on Tuesday She scored in the first minute unassisted and added another score on Ella John Dupree’s assist in the 25th minute.
Addie Stephens provided a 3-0 lead at the half as she scored in the 32nd minute/
Stephens assisted Karlie Edwards on a goal in the 45th minute. Dupree closed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 69:58.
Grace Viox had nine saves for the Eagles.
Jada Johnson prevented a shutout by Cresset with a late goal Friday.
CFCA is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the MCC going into a league match at home with Crossroads on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
