Soccer sweeps Lee Christian as lone senior, 8th-graders honored

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s middle school and varsity boys soccer teams swept Mid-Carolina Conference matches with visiting Lee Christian on Tuesday.

The varsity Eagles improved to 8-2-1 overall since an 0-2 start and 6-1 in league play as lone senior Micah Andemichael got the opportunity to play u front and put six shots on goal.

“Micah has been a big part of our success, helping anchor our defense,” said CFCA coach Bill Parrish. “Our guys were feeding him as hard as they could.”

Gunner Dorman scored twice among six shots on goal and had an assist

Caden Scarborough had one goal and three assists with seven shots on goal. Taylor Smith’s four shots on goal with a goal. Fisher Stancil had three shots on goal with a header into the net on a free kick from Dorman.

Tyson Stephens had two shots on goal with a score. Cade Godwin had six shots on goal. Thomas Honeycutt had an assist and was credited with initiating offense from center midfield.

Justin Chestnut had eight saves and punted well.

Defensive leaders included Conner Parrish, Chris Crume, Eli Burns, Andemichael, Joel Harless and Lathan Wilborn.

Middle school posts shutout as Shwaikeh scores three goals

The Eagles recognized eight-graders Jayce Barker, Luke Meyer, Maison Phillips, Eli Shwaikeh and Brandt West after a 5-0 win over Lee Christian kept the team unbeaten in conference play.

Shwaikeh had three goals Tuesday. John Andemichael and Meyer scored one each.

Barker had the shutout in goal.
