Athletic awards for fall sports were presented at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Thursday, October 24.
The Eagles won the NCISAA Division II championship in girls golf and subsequently won the NCISAA 1-A title in girls tennis on Saturday.
The varsity boys soccer team won a share of the Mid-Carolina Conference regular-season championship. The varsity volleyball team won its first-round NCISAA playoff match in five sets.
Cape Fear Christian won MCC regular season and tournament championships in junior varsity volleyball.
CFCA claimed MCC regular season and tournament championships in middle school boys soccer and volleyball. The middle school volleyball team did not lose a set in a 13-0 season.
In middle school cross country, CFCA’s boys won the MCC meet and were second in the conference during the regular season. The girls won the league for the regular season and were second in the MCC meet.
Booster club president Casey Ellis and secretary Ashlyn Thompson helped decorate the gym for the program.
Athletic director Al Myatt gave the welcome and closing remarks.
Headmaster Johnna Skatell delivered the prayer and accepted the championship trophies on behalf of the school.
Presenting awards were coaches Mark Mountcastle (cross country), Laina Moore (middle school volleyball), Falon Kessler (junior varsity volleyball), Andrea Malthouse (varsity volleyball), Brandon Shwaikeh (middle school boys soccer). Bill Parrish (varsity boys soccer), Page Jackson (girls tennis) and Braxton Wynns (girls golf).
