Eli Shwaikeh had 24 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double as the Cape Fear Christian Academy middle school boys basketball team defeated visiting St. John Paul II of Southern Pines, 50-23, on Monday.
CFCA (2-1) got eight points from Braxton Register, Reid Jones scored seven. Henry Smith had five points. River Stancil added four points and Luke Meyer tallied two.
St. John Paul II overcame a 9-point deficit for a 26-23 win in the middle school girls game.
CFCA lost key players Bijou Hester and Kinsley Godwin during the nonconference matchup. Hester sustained an ankle injury and Godwin fouled out.
Godwin had 10 points for CFCA and Carolina Wynns scored seven.
The CFCA teams play at St. John Paul II on Friday.
