SJ turns back James Kenan

South Johnston improved to 3-1 on Friday night with a 21-14 varsity football win over visiting James Kenan at Ronald Avery Stadium.

The Tigers got the first touchdown of the game but the Trojans got a tying score on a 1-yard TD run by Jaequan Wells.

The score was tied at 7 at intermission.

The Trojans took a 14-7 lead with 10:47 left in the game on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Josh Schindler to Jawuan Smith.

A James Kenan fan had to be taken off the field by Johnston County deputies after Prince Lee of the Tigers was loaded into an emergency services vehicle.

Schindler found Smith again on a 25-yard scoring pass for a 21-7 South lead.

The Trojans travel to Western Harnett on Friday night.
