Cape Fear Christian Academy recognized the lone senior on its varsity boys basketball team, Micah Andemichael, at halftime of a 72-31 nonconference win over the O’Neal School of Southern Pines on Saturday.
Andemichael was named Homecoming King on Friday night.
Saturday marked a successful bounce back for the Eagles after a 62-53 homecoming loss to New Garden Friends on Friday night that dropped CFCA to 5-2 in the Mid-Carolina Conference.
The Eagles took two of three in MCC matchups with the Bears, winning the junior varsity boys and middle school boys contests. New Garden does not have any girls teams.
Caden Scarborough and Kayden Dunkins had 10 points each for CFCA on Friday night. Justin Chestnut scored nine. Conner Parrish tallied seven. Cade Godwin and Lathan Wilborn had six points each. Elijah Ellis added five points.
Chestnut had 15 rebounds. Scarborough finished with four assists and three steals.
Parrish had seven rebounds, Dunkins grabbed six and Ellis pulled down five.
New Garden (9-10, 4-1 MCC) was led by 24 points from sophomore Kingston Clifton.
The Eagles had a balanced scoring attack on Saturday in improving to 14-8 overall. Dunkins had 17 points and was joined in double figures by Chestnut (12), Scarborough (11), Eli Burns (11) and Parrish (10).
Wilborn scored six. Godwin and Ellis added two points each.
JV Boys
CFCA took a 57-37 win over New Garden on Friday night as Eli Shwaikeh scored 19 points.
Wilborn added 14 points and Fisher Stancil tallied 12. Godwin and Tyson Stephens scored five each. Burns had two points.
The JV Eagles improved to 7-1 overall and remained unbeaten in the MCC.
Middle School Boys
CFCA’s youngest boys team also remained unbeaten in the MCC with a 43-11 victory as Eli Shwaikeh scored 22 points.
Jayce Barker had eight points. Carter Glass scored seven. Adding two points each were Luke Meyer, River Stancil and Reid Jones.
Upcoming
CFCA’s JV boys, varsity girls and varsity boys go to Lee Christian on Tuesday for games beginning at 4 p.m. The Eagles’ middle school teams will be at home on Thursday to play Old Mainstream Academy of Pembroke starting at 4 p.m.
