Astros pull within half-game

Buies Creek edged visiting Carolina 5-4 in 10 innings on Tuesday night and pulled within a half-game of Winston-Salem in the Carolina League Southern Division’s second half baseball standings with the Dash’s 6-4 loss to Myrtle Beach.

Carlos Canelon began the bottom of the 10th at second base and moved to third on a bunt by Jacob Meyers. Canelon scored the game-winning run on a single to left by J.J. Matijevic.

Colton Shaver went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the fourth for the Astros. Bryan De La Cruz had a double and two RBIs for Buies Creek. Matijevic had two hits with a double.

Astros pitchers J.B. Bukauskas, Carlos Sanabria and Colin McKee (3-1) combined for 14 strikeouts.
