Back in the Eagles’ nest

Al Myatt

This is a first person story simply because it’s about me.

For those who aren’t aware, I’m at Cape Fear Christian Academy as athletic director.

It’s a position I served in from 2004 to 2010.

A lot has happened since I was here before, including an extensive renovation of the gym. The “temporary floor” that was here for over 30 years has been replaced and there is air conditioning now.

The improvements represent the academy’s commitment to athletics. There are a lot more exciting things in store.

Mr. John Dupree, chairman of the board of directors, and Mrs. Karen Parker, headmaster, have restructured the AD position with some study and thought that will make it more efficient and productive.

We’re looking forward to making our existing sports better and adding some sports as well within the ultimately-important context of Christian education.

I value the relationships from my previous time at CFCA and am looking forward to building new ones as the athletic program goes forward.

I have worked much of my professional life with the printed word, but that experience doesn’t enable me to adequately express my appreciation and anticipation in having this opportunity again

Really, really looking forward to it.
