Balanced scoring helps Eagles to 64-56 victory at Fayetteville Christian

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team improved to 4-0 on its first road trip of the season with a 64-56 win over Fayetteville Christian on Tuesday night.

“We couldn’t put them away no matter how hard we tried said Eagles coach Dwain Ellis.

CFCA was able to take an early lead and maintained it as Caden Scarborough had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Justin Chestnut had 13 points, 13 rebounds and four steals. He made all six of his field goal attempts.

Conner Parrish had 10 points and three steals. Scoring nine points each were Kayden Dunkins and Elijah Ellis. Dunkins had four rebounds. Ellis had five assists and four steals.

Lathan Wilborn had six points, seven rebounds and blocked two shots. Cade Godwin had three points.

‘i see growth from this team every day,” Ellis said.

Fayetteville Christian won the girls game, 40-31, despite 11 points by Savannah Autry. The Lady Eagles (1-2) got nine points from Christianna Wynns.

Glenna McLamb had six points for CFCA. Lily Kate Dupree tallied three and Ella Wilborn added two.

The hosts won the junior varsity boys game, 48-46, in the Eagles’ season opener.

Riverside visits CFCA for JV boys, varsity girls and varsity boys games on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.
