Maliah Banks for the girls and Laderique McNeill for the boys have been honored as Athletes of the Year at Harnett Central.

Banks averaged 16.5 points, 4.3 assists and 4.5 steals for a 21-5 girls basketball team. She also was eighth in the 3-A girls state track meet in the 100 meter in 12.51 seconds.

McNeill, who has signed with N.C. State, won the state title in the 3-A 1,600 in 4:14.14. McNeill was third in the 3,200 in 9:24.10. He won the 800, 1,600 and the 3,200 in the regional.
