Barrett Sloan will be head football coach at Lakewood High School in Sampson County, according to a Twitter report confirmed by Triton coach Ben Penny on Wednesday morning.

Sloan, the son of former Midway coach Tommy Sloan, has been quarterbacks and running backs coach for the Hawks for two years.

Sloan played quarterback for Midway and graduated from East Carolina.

He was a student teacher at Lakewood before coming to Triton, where he also coached junior varsity baseball. He has taught at Harnett Primary.

Lakewood competes in the Carolina 1-A Conference. The Leopards were 11-3 in 2017 and 4-1 in league play under coach James Lewis.
