Baseball: Six earn All-MCC from fifth-seeded Eagles

Six Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity baseball players received All-Mid-Carolina Conference honors after the league tournament championship game at Crossroads on Friday.

Fisher Stancil, Conner Parrish, Taylor Smith, Tyson Stephens, Eli Burns and Mason Gregory were honored from CFCA.

The Eagles were topped, 17-7, by the host Colts in the MCC final. CFCA closed within 13-7 after Crossroads had taken a 10-0 lead.

The Colts (11-5) took advantage of 11 walks and nine errors by the Eagles (10-8).

Gregory had two hits, a run and an RBI on Friday. Burns had two hits and scored a run. Stancil had a hit, two runs and two RBIs. Cooper Davis had a hit and two RBIs. Landon McLamb had a hit and an RBI. Parrish had a hit, two runs and an RBI. Smith had a run, a walk and was hit by a pitch.

Parrish hit .600 for the MCC Tournament was named Most Outstanding Player for the event. He had five RBIs and handled all 15 fielding chances at first base without an error. Making the All-MCC Tournament team were Burns, Davis and Stancil.

NCISAA Tournament

The Eagles were seeded fifth in the NCISAA Tournament and received a first-round bye. CFCA plays at fourth-seeded Crossroads in the quarterfinals on Friday at 4 p.m.
