Aubree Bass of Triton struck out all nine batters she faced for a perfect game as the Hawks took a 15-0 nonconference softball win over visiting Smithfield-Selma in three innings on Thursday night.
“We hit the ball well,” said Triton coach Mark Whitman. “Aubree pitched well. … We played two tough games against South. We needed a victory, a little confidence booster going into next week.”
The Hawks (1-2) will host North Johnston on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before starting Tri-County Six 3-A Conference play the following night at home against Southern Lee.
Triton had 14 hits against SSS. Kaila Cooney was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Gracyn Slaughter was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Kimah Warren was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Getting hits for the Hawks were Takyra McLean, Bass (2 RBIs), Reagan Bradham (2 RBIs) and Gracie Byrd (RBI). Tristan Ennis had a sacrifice fly.
