The Buies Creek Astros won their final game of the Carolina League baseball regular season on Monday, 6-3, over the Carolina Mudcats at Jim Perry Stadium.
Seth Beer, J.J. Matijevic and Corey Julks hit home runs as the Astros finished tied for first with Winston-Salem in the second-half season Southern Division standings.
Carson LaRue (8-7) pitched five innings with four strikeouts for the win. Gabriel Valdez, Brendan Feldmann and Yohan Ramirez each had one-inning holds before Carlos Sanabria picked up his second save.
The Astros host Winston-Salem on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the opening game of a best-of-five series in the Mills Cup playoffs.
