BC Astros earn split with 2-0 win over Down East

The Buies Creek Astros scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and that was enough for a 2-0 Carolina League baseball win over the Down East Wood Ducks at Jim Perry Stadium on Thursday night.

Brandon Bailey (4-8), Brett Adcock and Tommy DeJuneas combined for the shutout, totaling 11 strikeouts. The trio limited Down East to five hits and allowed just one walk.

The teams split their four-game series.

Jacob Meyers and Osvaldo Duarte scored in the opening frame for the hosts. Meyers finished with two hits, including a double.
