BC Astros shut out Mudcats

Brett Adcock and Kit Scheetz combined for a two-hit shutout as the Buies Creek Astros won 2-0 over the Carolina Mudcats on Tuesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.

Adcock (3-0) yielded two hits, walked five and struck out seven.

Scheetz held the visitors hitless over the last four innings without a walk and struck out eight on the way to his second save.

Abraham Toro hit his sixth home run, a solo shot, in the fourth.

The Astros improved to 19-13 and are tied for first with the Winston-Salem Dash in the Carolina League Southern Division baseball standings.

Buies Creek hosts the Mudcats (15-17) at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, May 9).
