BC Astros start second half with win

The Buies Creek Astros began the second half of the Carolina League baseball season with a 7-1 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Thursday evening at Jim Perry Stadium.

Abraham Toro hit a solo homer in the third inning for a 5-1 Astros lead. Toro had two hits.

Osvaldo Duarte went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Astros.

Cristian Javier (2-0) started for the hosts. He allowed three hits and one earned run over five innings. He walked one and had one strikeout.

Hector Perez went the last four innings for his second save. He yielded no hits while walking two and striking out three.
