BC Astros top Potomac

BUIES CREEK — The Buies Creek Astros came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Potomac Nationals 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.

The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the second as Luis Payano had an RBI single to bring in J.J. Matijevic.

Carter Kieboom belted a three-run homer for Potomac in the third.

Chas McCormick led off the bottom of the fourth with a double and scored on a ground out to second by Matijevic as Buies Creek pulled within 3-2.

Alfredo Angarita had a two-out, two-run single in the fifth to put the Astros ahead.

Gabriel Valdez (2-2) went five innings for the win. He allowed two hits. Potomac’s runs were unearned. Valdez struck out four without a walk.

Brandon Bielak went four innings for his second save. He yielded two hits while walking one and striking out six.
