BUIES CREEK —Abraham Toro-Hernandez had a run-scoring double and Osvaldo Duarte hit an RBI triple in a four-run first inning for the Buies Creek Astros on Thursday night in a 6-3 win over Salem in the first home game of the Carolina League baseball season for the area team.
Two runs scored on a triple by Josh Rojas of the Astros in the second inning.
Buies Creek evened its record at 4-4 as Brandon Bielak went five scoreless innings for the win. Bielak allowed three hits, walked one and struck out eight.
Hector Perez and Ronel Blanco (first save) pitched two innings apiece with three whiffs each.
A crowd of 519 was on hand. The series continues at 7 tonight at Jim Perry Stadium on the Campbell campus.
