For the second straight Carolina League baseball game at Jim Perry Stadium, the Buies Creek Astros took a 5-0 win over the Salem Red Sox.
Corbin Martin (1-0) went six innings in the shutout and Carlos Sierra went the last three for his first save. Martin allowed two hits, walked three and struck out six.
The Astros outhit the Red Sox 10-3 as Ronnie Dawson went 3-for-5 with a home run. Abraham Toro drove in two runs. Chas McCormick had double and an RBI.
Buies Creek (6-5) hosts the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (3-8) tonight (Monday, April 16) at 7 p.m.
